The Historical Regatta is Europe's oldest nautical parade: 16th-century historical galleys row down the Grand Canal with crews in period costume, followed by rowing competitions between gondolieri. Held on the first Sunday of September. Best viewing spots: the Rialto or Ca' Rezzonico, two hours before the start.
